The nursery: what every mother looks forward to when finding out they’re expecting a little one. I was no exception. The only issue was Keith and I were still living in Charlotte and had to pick out wall colors, furniture, decor, all before seeing the house in person.
I spent many nights glued to Pinterest and loved everything. So many themes. Too many ideas. Honestly, the inspo is endless and that can be pretty overwhelming.
I tried to push all of those ideas out and focus more on what I really wanted and not too much on what I saw online. My main goal was to create a calming space. We had picked out a very subtle pink paint color, or so I thought…
When I finally arrived in Illinois and walked into her room I was NOT A FAN. It was not a subtle pink AT ALL, it was pepto bismol. With no hesitation I decided we needed this space to be a clean white and ended up having the painters match the trim color of the room.
Once they had the nursery repainted, I was much happier with the feel of the room. That was until the chair arrived and didn’t fit through her doorway. HA! It was BARELY too big.
Again, we were living in North Carolina when we had to pick out and order all of our furniture. My husband and father-in-law removed the trim in the door frame and that ended up being just enough to allow the chair to shimmy on in there. Thank goodness!
After the initial chaos of it all, I started adding small touches to help complete the space. It is my favorite room in the house. I am instantly happy when I walk in and keeping the walls a clean white will make it easier for her to add more and more of her taste as she grows. We’ve already added a bow display.
