Athena vs. Billie Razor Review

I have been using the Billie razor for years now. Over 2 years in fact! I was first introduced by an Instagram ad and thought “Shoot, for $9 I may as well try it!” After months, I then saw big name influencers sharing the Billie razor and not going to lie, I thought to myself “WTF, I have been using this razor for a long time now!” My other honest thought while all of these influencers were raving about it: “It is just a razor.” Up until recently, I thought I would stick with Billie until something better or cheaper came along.

Well, along came another razor that I indeed was influenced to try. I noticed a few influencers were switching from the Billie to the Athena razor and thought to myself “hmm.. you were just raving about the Billie and now all of the sudden a switch?” I knew 1 of 2 things. 1. that there was a better kickback for influencers to share the Athena or 2. it truly was a better razor. Because of this, I decided to give the Athena a try and thought to myself, if I was a consumer I would want to know the truth about these and which I should invest my money in!

I put together my Athena razor and added a brand new razor head to my Billie. I ended up shaving the right side of my body (arm pit and leg) using the Billie and the left side using the Athena to see if I could spot any differences in the shave and grow out. I ended up letting it grow out longer than I usually would to again, spot any differences. First off, I can say that I did not notice a difference in shave. Each razor has 5 blades. Of course, the Billie has a charcoal soap strip on the razor blade but that is the only difference between the two. In regards to grow out with each, I definitely did not notice a difference. If I had to choose, my outgrow may be a little more after using the Billie but not enough for me to say one was better than the other.

Both razors worked similarly in my opinion. I did not notice the idea that one or the other was “the closest shave I’ve ever had.” Again, this may be different for my body/hair. For the plans that I chose for each, after doing the math, the Billie razor ended up being a few cents cheaper per razor if not using a referral code with Athena. You get your own referral code so if you get multiple friends/family to use it then it will end up being a cheaper option. Bottom line: Both razors are great! If you are wanting a more aesthetically pleasing razor, then I would go with the Athena. IMO, it is just a more sleek looking razor- I got the all white. If you are looking for one that you don’t necessarily need to use a shaving cream with (who has time for that anymore, anyway), then you may consider the Billie since it has the charcoal soap strip.

Billie does not use codes so it will always be the $9 (which is SO worth it, IMO)
Athena does offer referral codes so you can get $5 off your purchase (making your first purchase only $4!!) You can also pass your own code out to continue to get discounted razors. Use CODE: ANDI9580 for that $5 off!
