Pantry/Fridge Organization

Something about this quarantine has made me want to spring clean/organize every room and space in my home. Maybe it is the fact that I cannot leave my house and it has forced me to finish these projects I’ve been wanting to do for awhile.

Neither spaces are 100% completed yet as I just recently received more bins (shipping has been taking forevvvvveeeeeerrrr).

The pantry has been a work in progress since we moved into this house in 2017. We actually don’t have a pantry and use a very deep coat closet around the corner from our kitchen. It drives me insane and we even went so far into having a contractor out to look into creating a pantry for us with access from the kitchen. However, due to our heating vents, it was impossible without spending thousands of dollars to redo our vents- no thanks, I guess I’ll take the extra 10 steps if I have to. I am hesitant to put any permanent shelving in however at this point so we just use the wire shelving which works okay.

It quickly became a space where we would just throw whatever we had on a shelf and let it sit there until it expired because we forgot we had it or it got buried under something else. I spent the money on clear bins, glass jars, and labels from The Home Edit and am now SO glad I did. I am actually quite embarrassed to show these before pics but here goes nothing:

Before

We clearly love food in this home as this pantry is packed and we still have a few more glass jars/clear bins to fill but in my eyes, this is 1000x better than the way it was.

I also decided to quickly clean our the refrigerator and try to organize that as well. We now have almost everything in bins that are easy to pull and look instead of a bunch of jars that get pushed to the back and expire. Not perfect but again, is such an improvement!
