I seriously cannot believe it has already been a year since that night of zero sleep, admittance to the hospital at 5 AM and then another 22 hours until my girl’s arrival. Not going to lie to anyone, the first 3 months were a challenge. Well shoot, being a mom is a challenge. BUT the first three months were a big transition for me. Feeding/nursing issues, reflux issues, baby blues, identity struggles, you name it. But as time went on, the days got easier and easier and thankfully just looking at that girl made the world OK. We fell into a routine and Nolyn became literally the happiest baby on earth. They say “the days are long but the years are short” and boy does that ring true.
This pandemic has put a halt on many things in my life as I’m sure everyone’s. I thought at the beginning of all of this that there would be no way we wouldn’t be able to celebrate Nolyn’s 1st birthday. However, as time got closer I came to the reality that this party that I had put SO much thought into (as well as my momma) was going to have to be cancelled. We live in Michigan. Our families live in IL. There was no drive by parade options happening unfortunately. The best we could do was a zoom party and although short lived, it was oh so sweet. I quickly threw together some decor that I picked up on Amazon and Party City, ordered a an incredible cake from a local bakery and a helium tank from Target and we had ourselves a birthday!
